Spartan Babes in Training

The Jungle Babes have accepted the challenge. 2018 will be the year we become Spartan Babes. But we will not be rushing headlong into the race unprepared. This is the story of how our training began…

Spartan Fit

Since we’re all newbies in the race, we decided to follow Joe De Sena’s training plan.

Day 0 – the Fit Test

The warm up involved a bit of jogging on the spot, some bear crawls, walking lunges, and squats.

What!? This is just the warm up??? – SC

Spartan Training

The Fitness Test:

  • Hang from a bar for as long as you can – 15 seconds. Wow. It’s funny how slowly time moves when you’re hanging from a bar.
  • Complete as many “race form” burpees as you can in 5 minutes – I lost count. Maybe 30? Definitely not “race form”. Not even sure if we managed one in “race form”. The penalty for not completing an obstacle is 30 burpees. Suddenly, I don’t want to opt for the penalty of missing an obstacle.
  • Run as far as you can in 30 minutes – 4 km. And it was flat.

Yes. We have a long way to go…
